Redstone Arsenal is a campus of more than 50 federal agencies. The 2005 BRAC greatly increased the Department of Defense presence at Redstone, including the relocation of the four-star Army Materiel Command, the three-star Space and Missile Defense Command, and the majority of the three-star Missile Defense Agency. The Army Contracting Command has also announced its move to Redstone.
The Army alone has a total of more than 10,000 employees in the area, across 70 different organizations. The Departments of Agriculture, Homeland Security, Justice, Labor, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs each have small offices in the area as do the Internal Revenue Service, General Services Administration, and Postal Service.
